East Kames - A self catering holiday house at Kilmelford near Oban, Argyll,  Scotland

East Kames was built in 1997 and has a magnificent position overlooking Kames Bay which is  close to the head of Loch Melfort. It has extensive grounds and a gate from the garden gives direct access to the shore where you may well see seals, cormorants and eider duck.

It provides 4 star self catering accommodation and is a truly wonderful base from which to explore the Scottish West Highlands and Islands.  A short walk down the road are the renowned Arduaine Gardens. Go south and watch the boats using  the Crinan Canal between the Sound of Jura and Loch Fyne or maybe stop before you get there and take a walk back in history at Kilmartin Glen. To the east is the aptly named Loch Awe or you can travel a few miles up the road and drive westwards across the Atlantic Ocean onto the Isle of Seil.  Oban, often referred to as the Gateway to the Isles because of the many ferry routes and day trips that originate from here is approximately 20 minutes drive to the north.  The island of Mull and the ever popular Tobermory (or should that be Balamory) make an excellent day trip.
